  • Nexus Letters for Veterans’ Mental Health Conditions

    What Is a Nexus Letter?

A nexus letter is a detailed medical statement written by a qualified healthcare professional. Its purpose is to clearly explain how a veteran’s current mental health condition is “at least as likely as not” connected to their military service. This document can play a crucial role in strengthening a VA disability claim or appeal.

    How We Help

Our team works with licensed medical providers experienced in evaluating mental health conditions in veterans. We assist by:

Reviewing your service history, medical records, and relevant documentation

Coordinating an assessment with a qualified clinician

Providing a clear, professionally written nexus letter tailored to your case

Ensuring your documentation aligns with VA standards and language

    Who Can Benefit

A nexus letter may help if:

Your initial VA claim was denied

Your condition developed or worsened after service

    You have limited in-service documentation

You’re filing for secondary service connection (e.g., depression secondary to chronic pain)

    Our Promise

We understand the importance of accurate, compassionate support. Every nexus letter is written by a licensed provider who reviews your case in full and offers an independent, evidence-based medical opinion.

If you're preparing a new claim or challenging a previous decision, a well-prepared nexus letter can be a critical piece of evidence in helping the VA understand your story.

    FOUNDER

ARK Mental Health Wellness was founded by Anna Marie Grace Kastner, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with the goal of creating a compassionate and accessible space for individuals and families seeking mental-health support. Drawing on years of clinical experience, she established ARK as a practice grounded in holistic, patient-centered care that emphasizes education, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative decision-making. The founding vision behind ARK was to close gaps in mental-health access—particularly for children, adolescents, and adults who need timely psychiatric evaluation and medication management—while offering a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their treatment journey.

  • Biography

    Professional Background

Anna Marie Grace Ramos-Kastner is a highly experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in Las Vegas, Nevada. With over 20 years of clinical experience, she offers comprehensive evaluations, medication management, and customized treatment plans for children (ages 5+), teens, adults, and seniors.

In recent years, there has been a shift toward raising awareness of mental health overall, including eliminating the stigma that stubbornly adheres to the notion of seeking mental help. Raising awareness and motivating people to seek professional help encouraged Anna to pursue a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner certificate at National University at La Jolla, California, so she can advocate for patients who struggle to be heard or respected and to educate others who do not understand mental illness and to stop the mental health stigma.

Anna's goal is to build a relationship and understand patients' main concerns to determine if medication is necessary and to create a treatment plan that includes the right type and dosage of medication that can help promote recovery and normal living. It is important for the provider to review prescribed drugs and their possible side effects to create treatment plans and monitor their safety and efficacy. Treatment plans outline the goals, interventions, and expected outcomes of treatment. Treatment plans are individualized to meet the specific needs of the person, considering unique circumstances and preferences.

    Approach to Care

Anna’s philosophy of care is rooted in understanding the whole patient. She takes time to explore each person’s concerns, experiences, and goals, developing treatment plans that reflect their needs and preferences. Her approach is:

    Warm and patient

    Collaborative

    Culturally responsive

Focused on safety, education, and empowerment

She strives to create a supportive, stigma-free environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and confident in their care.
